ODBC Connection

ODBC stands for Open Database Connectivity and allows a standardized access to database-systems. Fortunatly there are many vendors supporting ODBC for their databases. In the following we’ll cover the most important connectionstrings of them.

PostgreSQL

ODBC-Driver
http://www.postgresql.org/ftp/odbc/versions/msi

Connectionstring
Driver={PostgreSQL};Server=IP address;Port=5432;Database=myDataBase;Uid=myUsername;Pwd=myPassword;

MySQL

ODBC-Driver
https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc

Connectionstring
Driver={MySQL ODBC 5.2 ANSI Driver};Server=myServerAddress;Port=3306;Database=myDataBase;User=myUsername;Password=myPassword;Option=3;

MariaDB

Unfortunatly the current odbc-driver of MariaDB is very unreliable, despite the fact the release-number of the driver is 1.0. Please install and use the odbc-driver of mysql to connect and query MariaDB databases!

ODBC-Driver
https://downloads.mariadb.org/connector-odbc

Connectionstring
Driver={MariaDB ODBC 1.0 Driver};Server=localhost;UID=odbc_user;PWD=odbc_pw;DB=odbc_test;Port=3306
